England v Croatia

Croatia enjoyed a very successful qualification campaign too, winning 7 of their 8 group matches, only drawing away at Czechia in Prague stopping them from maxing out their points total. They also saw off Montenegro, Faroe Islands and Gibraltar.

This will be the fourth meeting between England and Croatia at a major tournament. Our first meeting saw us beat them 4-2 in Lisbon at Euro 2004. We lost to them in Moscow at the 2018 World Cup semi-final, and beat them in our first game of Euro 2024 at Wembley, with Raheem Sterling grabbing the winner in front of a Covid crowd at Wembley.

England v Ghana

Ghana also faced a relatively smooth qualification in Africa, winning 8 of their 10 fixtures, drawing one and losing the other, seeing off Mali, Madegascar, Comoros, Central African Republic and Chad.

England have never faced Ghana in a major competition, and have only met once in our history. A 1-1 draw at Wembley in a friendly back in 2011.

Manchester City’s Antoine Semenyo is certainly the crown jewel in Ghana’s squad.

England v Panama

England have only faced Panama once, beating them 6-1 in Nizhny Novgorod at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. England were five-nil up at half-time, with Harry Kane bagging a hat-trick.

Panama’s qualification started back in June 2024, finishing top of the first qualification stage by beating Nicaragua, Guyana, Montserrat and Belize, which meant they went straight to the third qualification stage. They then beat Suriname, Guatemala and El Salvador to finish top and confirm their place at the World Cup.

This is just their second appearance at a World Cup.
